After seeing her sister's fight against leukemia, she became determined to find a better way to treat the disease. Dr. Von Schaefer can combine traditional medicine and surgery with integrative therapies because of her extensive training in trauma surgery, cell biology, and biochemistry. Dr. Von Schaefer has made significant advancements in oncology and integrative medicine, helping patients in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Von Schaefer is well-known for her innovative work as an integrative oncologist, for which she is known both in the United States and abroad. Her specialities include tailor-made low-dose chemotherapy, tailored immunotherapy, and other novel approaches to cancer care. She practices modern medicine with a highly individualized approach based on her years of training and extensive academic background.

Over her 35 years in practice, Dr. Von Schaefer has honed her general and trauma surgery, oncology, and endocrinology skills. He uses these to formulate plans for treating patients with complex medical conditions. Using biochemical and molecular biological principles as analytical tools, her practice develops individualized treatment programs for patients with cancer and other chronic diseases.
Virginia Von Schaefer gives her patients the best possible individualized care by considering their distinct genetic composition. Her mission is to pinpoint the most effective approaches to treating disease, avoiding cancer and other chronic conditions, improving overall health, and planning for the future.

Diabetes, neurological disorders, chronic candidiasis, hypothyroidism, and endocrine imbalance are all treatable at her clinic. She also provides procedures for treating and preventing COVID-19 and the complete spectrum of influenza, as well as strategies to optimize weight and metabolism.

At Columbia, she wove vascular grafts from Dixon absorbable suture material, which she later used in her groundbreaking work in vascular surgery. Dr. Von Schaefer conducted an experiment on rats with liver metastases from colon cancer to determine if 5-FU continuous infusions were effective.

In 1983, after completing her medical education at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians, Dr. Von Schaefer began her professional career as a surgical resident and medical intern at New York Presbyterian Hospital. After finishing her postdoctoral research fellowship at St. Vincent's Healthcare in New York, she became a surgical resident there. She completed her residency in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and her fellowship in vascular surgery at Cornell Hospital's affiliated Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens.

After more than three decades in the field, Virginia Von Schaefer is an accomplished physician and surgeon. She started out as a trauma and vascular surgeon but switched back to her true love of cellular biology and biochemistry after suffering a paralyzing spinal cord injury. Combining these ideas with her surgical background, Dr. Von Schaefer developed unconventional and synergistic approaches to cancer treatment that integrate conventional and metabolic-based techniques.

Dr. Von Schaefer's work on transitional cell bladder and uterine cancer earned her the Dr. J Lattimer prize from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr.Virginia Von Schaefer enjoys spending time with her family and three Italian greyhounds in her spare time. She also likes to swim, write, cook, and tend her garden.
